Guest Post by Holly Brooke!!!!

When people envision a cosplayer’s life, I assume they usually envision a lot of sewing, playing video games, attending conventions, and dorking out in general. What I don’t think a lot of cosplayer followers may realize is that cosplayers can live a kind of double-life, at least in my experience. Don’t get me wrong, there’s plenty of video games and dorking out, but outside of that world I am in the process of becoming a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine for wildlife species. I am a cosplayer, but I am also a crazy cat lady.
I have been dressing up and making costumes for as long as I can remember, but I started attending conventions in 2009. I have an entire closet full of costumes, but my most recent and well known costumes include: Harley Quinn, Ghost Rider, Morrigan, Cammy White, Catwoman, Stocking, and the L4D Witch. I am based in California and typically attend cons in my home state. I spend a large portion of my nerd life watching cartoons, playing fighting games, looking at cosplay online, and contributing to the Aggressive Comix Facebook page and website.

When I’m not busy eating Spongebob macaroni and watching Batman the Animated Series you will find me sitting in a lecture hall eight hours a day studying to become a veterinarian. I recently moved to northern California to start vet school, however for the past two years I called the Cat Haven my home. The Cat Haven is an educational and non-profit facility that contributes greatly to the conservation of big cat species. I began working with them to gain experience with exotic animals and wildlife medicine, what I found was the world’s most rewarding job! While at the Cat Haven I got to work with jaguars, lions, tigers, leopards, cheetahs and so many amazing big cat species.

So there is a little background about my life and my passions! I would like to thank Sarah from Supersarah's world for giving me the chance to talk with you all. If there is anything else you would like to know please feel free to post on my Facebook or Twitter page and I will do my best to reply to you!

John Lewis

                           John Lewis

John Lewis Department store, great place to go for all your needs whether it be home & garden, toys clothes or a special gift.

I am in the middle of planning a house move so i have been looking for decor ideas primarily i found amoung other things they have a 'stunning choice of lamps!'
I paticurly love the Flos Miss K table lamp admitedly it is out of price range however there are many others i love that i am seriously considering buying once my move comes through including the Boys and Girls Kendal lamps.
Why not check them out for yourself you wont be disappointed with the large and varied rand and colours that they have in stock.

'I was very kindly sent a pair of  Seagull Cushion Covers to test and review'.

Product information:

  • Square shaped and pattened
  • 40 x 40 cm
  • It is eligible for international delivery
  • Dry clean only
Wow! thats the first thing that springs to mind when i saw the cushion cover for the 1st time. I loved the design and colours, the seagulls were soo cute! and i love the chequered trim around the edge of the covers.

Im pretty sure its material is a mix of cotton/woven- i could not find anything under the product info online to state the materials it is made from,if im honest that was the only thing i was disappointed in as i love all the extra details especially when i buy products for my kids as 2 have exzema and so certain material irritate them. I originally put these on my sofa and they looked great however i switched and placed on my bed instead purely as i didnt want them getting marked by sticky hands. i love relaxing reading in my room, and everytime i look at these i have to smile as i can literally picture myself at the seaside, bliss.

Although not the cheapest of Cushion covers they are absolutely worth the money esp if teamed with a couple of plain cool blue cushions.

I would definetly recommend them!

Disclosure: i was not paid to do this review only to keep the product as a thank you for the time put into my review, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Pirate Wench Costume Review

Pirate Wench Costume Review.

I was recently sent a Pirate Wrench Costume to test and review by Jokers Masquerade here are my thoughts:

  1. A black,red and white pirate dress
  2. A black belt with a skull and crossbones printed on the front
  3. A red and black striped head scarf.

RRP: £12.99
Dres size 12-14(medium)

Made from 100% polyester,Dry clean only.

The costume came in a resealable pvc bag and header card i find this really useful as i can keep it in the bag when not in use and hang it in my wardrobe until needed, not to mention this will help keep it clean and dust free.

The dress is easy to wear fits perfectly and as its made completely from polyester i found it to be lovely and soft.

What i love:

  1. Lovely design
  2. I love the top part of the dress i like to wear things that will show my shoulders and having a larger bust not only does this dress feel comfortable it draws enough attention without being over kill-which helps draw away from areas im not happy with such as my belly-the belt also helps with this-giving a more flattering look.
  3. love the softness and stretchyness of the material.
  4. The great value for money price
Things im not as keen on:

  1. The headscarf-i found it to be not large enough when you finally get it on a slight sudden movement and it comes away again-i resulted in using another one from a differant costume.
  2. The fact its dry clean only-with 5 kids who always have mucky hands no matter how often you clean them, it would just be lovely to have a machine wash option-even if on a gentle cycle.
End result:

A great costume, brilliant value for money,to get a full effect make sure you buy the extras.i will recommend and would absolutely use the Jokers Masquerade for future purchases.

Why not check out all their awesome pirate costumes for yourself
And lets not forget the super cute kids pirate costumes.

And now i will leave you with some family pirate fun pictures :D
