Guest Post by Holly Brooke!!!!

When people envision a cosplayer’s life, I assume they usually envision a lot of sewing, playing video games, attending conventions, and dorking out in general. What I don’t think a lot of cosplayer followers may realize is that cosplayers can live a kind of double-life, at least in my experience. Don’t get me wrong, there’s plenty of video games and dorking out, but outside of that world I am in the process of becoming a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine for wildlife species. I am a cosplayer, but I am also a crazy cat lady.
I have been dressing up and making costumes for as long as I can remember, but I started attending conventions in 2009. I have an entire closet full of costumes, but my most recent and well known costumes include: Harley Quinn, Ghost Rider, Morrigan, Cammy White, Catwoman, Stocking, and the L4D Witch. I am based in California and typically attend cons in my home state. I spend a large portion of my nerd life watching cartoons, playing fighting games, looking at cosplay online, and contributing to the Aggressive Comix Facebook page and website.

When I’m not busy eating Spongebob macaroni and watching Batman the Animated Series you will find me sitting in a lecture hall eight hours a day studying to become a veterinarian. I recently moved to northern California to start vet school, however for the past two years I called the Cat Haven my home. The Cat Haven is an educational and non-profit facility that contributes greatly to the conservation of big cat species. I began working with them to gain experience with exotic animals and wildlife medicine, what I found was the world’s most rewarding job! While at the Cat Haven I got to work with jaguars, lions, tigers, leopards, cheetahs and so many amazing big cat species.

So there is a little background about my life and my passions! I would like to thank Sarah from Supersarah's world for giving me the chance to talk with you all. If there is anything else you would like to know please feel free to post on my Facebook or Twitter page and I will do my best to reply to you!

  6. Wow! You are a woman of many talents! Love your interest and your cosplay is awesome. I love cosplayers that put forth an actual effort into their costumes! When I went to Comic Con this year (fellow nerdy over here!) so many just threw stuff together and it didn't make any sense.

I strive to have everything that I want in life and live the life I want most. Never heard of cosplayer. This is a fun way to get to know someone.
