How you were born review

How you were born review

Recently i was given the chance to review the How you were born book,a very clear yet gentle book offering a child suitable way to describe to young and curious children how babies are born.

Now as parents we all know that childbirth is no way as clear sailing as the book shows however bearing in mind the young readers it is aimed at i find it wholly suitable giving them all the required facts without all the unnecessary gore and what if's that can and do on occasion occur.

I have never broached the birds and the bees talk with any of my children even my 13 and 15 year old i never felt the need nor did i know how to approach this subject upon reading this book my 7 year old's first reaction was "oh,so you don't just gems a tummy ache then spin around and appear with a baby in your arms!.....i think i play too much sims!!)

I love how bright the pictures in this book are, very captivating to a young or older child's eye.

We love this book and highly recommend, great for young inquisitive minds.my children love to regurly read it i have even caught my teenagers having a read although when caught their reply was "why would we read it we learnt everything at sex education at school!" guess i don't need to worry about that talk after all.

It is the last of a 4 book series which include your daddy and me,when you were in my tummy and you me and the breast.

The book is priced at £6.99,to buy this book or any in the series direct from the publisher with a £2.00 off per book and free postage and packing enter HYWBBLOG200 at www.pinterandmartin.com

On  7th September we attended the Waterfest Weymouth

Waterfest Weymouth is a unique festival that celebrates Dorset's maritime heritage, over a 2 day event on 6th and 7th September.Supported by Weymouth BID.

We had a fantastic day out in the sun, firstly we hit William Henry in Weymouth for a lovely roast dinner before taking a stroll to the harbour where it was great watching the displays and in particular we loved the Aquatic Jetpack Display and also getting our faces painted by Diamond Faces Professional Face Painting.
We even managed to get some blue netting and plastic crabs ect ready to go in our sea themed hallway once done. All in all a great family day out was had by all.

Transforming greetings cards into gift tags

OK now not many of you know but one of the things i love to do is recycle and turn birthday/Xmas/greetings cards into gift tags it is something i have loved doing since i was 13 after having to do it for a homework assignment where we showed a way to combine helping the environment along with saving money, its not something i had ever thought about until that moment. ever since i have been hooked, why spend loads on gift tags when you can just reuse what you already have? some may think its makes you cheap however i don't care,i enjoy doing it and at the end of the day who wouldn't say no to extra pennies in their pocket?

Its so easy to do all you need is:

  1. greeting/birthday/Xmas cards
  2. an assortment of ribbons
  3. a stapler or a hole punch

Next you need to sort through your card haul to dig out the cards you can use, make sure they are a assortment of sizes however bear in mind if too small you wont be able to write anything on it.carefully cut around the areas you want to use discard the rest, once done put aside until you have finished them all, next i normally use a hole punch however i cant find mine so instead i jumped to cutting up equal lengths of ribbon then placing it in the area i want it in on the back of the tag and using the staple attach it. and voila you now have a cheap as chips gift tag ready to use,do this with all your tags and then stash away until needed.(if you use a hole punch simply tie the ribbon after pulling through hole(even easier)
